6 Easy Ways To Pamper Your Skin This Christmas

This year for many has been a challenge, especially navigating through the COVID pandemic. This once in a lifetime event has taught me that I never know what is around the corner so I have to live in the moment! I love nothing more than treating myself to a spa break in the winter. However, with the current rules in the UK, this isn’t really practical, so I’ll do the next best thing…bring the spa to the comfort of my home this Christmas!

Christmas is Coming!

The Ultimate Christmas Spa… At Home!

This year for many has been a challenge, especially navigating through the COVID pandemic. This once in a lifetime event has taught me that I never know what is around the corner so I have to live in the moment!

I love nothing more than treating myself to a spa break in the winter. However, with the current rules in the UK, this isn’t really practical, so I’ll do the next best thing…bring the spa to the comfort of my home!

I find taking the time out to de-stress, relax and indulge in my favourite snacks (not too many, however, as I still need to make sure that my swimsuit body is perfect for when I am finally able to travel abroad) can be a great way to reset the mind, body and soul. Therefore, over the Christmas break, that is what I intend to do.

This year, for my spa break at home, I will be pampering myself with the following must-haves:

  1. Mask… Not The Mandatory One…
  2.  Lather Up!
  3. Play That Music
  4. What’s That Smell?
  5.  Treats… Treats… And More Treats…
  6. Relax

1. Mask… Not The Mandatory One…

After I have cleansed my skin, I’ll put on a face mask and to be honest I don’t tend to spend a lot on face masks, so, I find some which contain ingredients such as tea tree and aloe vera, as it really helps to calm down my active acne. When it comes to face masks, I tend to see results when I am consistent and use them a couple of times a week.

If you want to tackle scarring, ageing and dry skin, facemasks that contain hyaluronic acid, vitamins C and E will help [1].

Always check the label of the products you are using, especially the ingredients, or seek medical attention if you are in doubt, as some ingredients/products may not suitable if you are on medication, breastfeeding or pregnant.

2. Lather Up!

Taking a bath can be a great way to unwind and completely de-stress! I love adding bath bombs, salts and essential oils (especially anything with lavender scents) to help me achieve this. There are so many bath products on the market. My current favourite is the Twilight Lush Bath Bomb, as it just smells incredible.

I will always make sure I follow my usual skincare routine for my face and body after taking a bath. Moisturising is especially important to ensure my skin stays hydrated.

3. Play That Music

Playing instrumental relaxing music can really set the tone and make me feel like I am at the spa. The sounds of the sea is what makes me most relaxed, such as lapping waves.

4. What’s That Smell?

I recently invested in an essential oil diffuser and there are so many different oils on the market, which I can use to set the mood in any room. I have loved using mine and experimenting with the different scented oils. My favourites so far have been Anjou lavender and eucalyptus oils.

However, if this isn’t something you have available, lighting a candle (but please make sure to exercise good fire safety at home!), of your favourite scent can change the whole ambience of a room and smell amazing! My favourite is Pink Sands by Yankee Candle!

5. Treats… Treats… And More Treats…

Indulging in my favourite beverage or snacks can completely lift my spirits. My favourite snacks won’t all be healthy and there will definitely be a few chocolate bars for me to devour! I mean Tis’ the season…

And 6. Relax…

For me, it’s definitely going to be a comedy film to end my spa experience at home. My favourite especially this time of the year has to be Home Alone (1 or 2). It allows me to reminisce about times in New York and the Rockefeller Christmas tree. There is nothing I find more enjoyable at the end of the day than wrapping myself in my big fluffy blanket, grabbing a warm drink and flicking on my favourite movie.

The content of this blog might not be suitable for everyone. To make the most of your relaxation time, it’s so important to use the products on your skin that you trust and work for you. Please seek medical attention if you are ever in doubt of any products you are using.
