sharing her real Acne Story… Punam UNMASKED!

My name is Punam and I wanted to share my story with you all. Since I was a teenager, I have been suffering from acne and for many years, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my skin. In the past, during my formative years, especially in High school, it caused confidence issues in social settings and within myself. Sometimes, even when I tried to eat the right foods, use the right skincare products and get that much needed exercise, the spots just didn’t want to disappear! In my late teens I had the habit of using my long hair as a mask, to try and hide my face.

Hi Guys,

My name is Punam and I wanted to share my story with you all.

Since I was a teenager, I have been suffering from acne and for many years, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my skin. In the past, during my formative years, especially in High school, it caused confidence issues in social settings and within myself.

Sometimes, even when I tried to eat the right foods, use the right skincare products and get that much needed exercise, the spots just didn’t want to disappear!

In my late teens I had the habit of using my long hair as a mask, to try and hide my face. As I got older, during my early 20’s (many years ago now!), there were times when I would not leave the house without make up on, due to still being so self-conscious about my skin.

Her Acne epiphany:

It took me a while, but as I then began to realise, these were only temporary solutions, and that I needed to tackle my stubborn acne head on and learn to love my skin rather than hide myself away. Fast forward to 2020, it seems I was probably ahead of the curve, now that masks have become a mandatory accessory when stepping out of the front door.

Through speaking to medical experts and doing my own research, I have found ways to manage my skin, minimise the breakouts and feel great about my skin. Evidence-based medical research is extremely important to me because without this, it is simply just people’s opinions, which can be helpful, but not always, as someone else’s cure will not always work on you.

I’ve found that trial and error, as unscientific as it sounds can be a way forward on your skin journey, although it can take a while for you to see the results, but long term it may pay dividends. I have been guilty in the past of starting a treatment, but when it does not show immediate benefits, my confidence has been affected. Knowing what I know now, patience and consistency is key, and the perseverance I now have with my skin is really paying off.

I hope you love reading my blogs as much as I love writing them and more importantly,  I hope to encourage skin confidence through them.
