Covid-19 has changed our lives in many ways that are obvious. Skin damage, accelerated skin aging and increased risks of dark circles and wrinkles are all examples of the less obvious effects that this new way of life demands. Find out why you need to step up your skincare game NOW!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all well and safe.
Let’s get straight to the point! Why is it so important to have an amazing skincare regime right NOW?

1)   You are spending more time in front of screens than ever before.
This is important for two reasons! Firstly, you are seen very clearly on those video calls! Secondly, all screens emit blue light which have been proven to cause ageing of the skin.

2)  You have more stressful factors than ever before.
Yes! I’m talking about your work-life-children-home balance! There are very blurry lines within each category and can be extremely overwhelming!

3) You are spending more time at home than ever before.
You have nowhere to go! No rush-around morning routines to catch that train! You can do a quick 10 minute face-mask while feeding the kids or doing the ironing! Even a quick foot mask whilst on that video conference call!

4)  You started ageing at about 25 years old, the signs will start showing and progressing significantly!
Yes!  Unfortunately this is true! Your skin starts ageing from about the age of 25 years old and the signs (the lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, sagging) all start to show a few years later. Prevention is cheaper than cure!

So what excuses are you using for not starting right now?
  • “I don’t have time.”
This will be the case for many of you. Your skincare regime does not have to be a 12-step plan! Combination products contain multiple active ingredients and can  reduce the number of steps in your regime without compromising your results. And believe me, when you see results, you’ll find that the time appears from thin air!

  • “I don’t know what my skin needs” or “I don’t know what will suit my skin” or “I’ve tried and nothing works”.
Each person has a unique concern. You will all have different extents of the same concerns with different skin types. As a result, your skincare regime MUST be bespoke. Otherwise the chances of no change or even reactions are likely. An expert in this field will be able to tell you your skin type and which ingredients will work well to reduce or eliminate your skin concerns.
  • “It costs too much”.
This is a very common objection and understandably so! We haven’t grown up with this approach to spend significant amounts of money on ourselves. We have never really been taught to invest in ourselves. So we always think twice about the value of our investments.

So let’s start with cost-comparison of some over-the-counter (OTC) products that you’ll find in Boots or Superdrug vs non-prescription medical-grade products. Medical-grade products often have higher concentrations and better-absorption formulations of the active ingredients. In other words, they are often more effective at addressing your concerns. They have significant research and date to support majority of these products.  Don’t get me wrong! OTC products are a great starting point but to get to the core of the concern, you will need a targeted approach.
Secondly, as these medical-grade products are high in concentration of active ingredients, you only need a small amount to apply to your skin to see results, lasting longer than OTC products.

Finally, you are applying these products to your skin!  Your face! You only get one face! This face represents you! Take care of it. Be careful with it. Don’t just trust anyone with it! No matter how many deals you’ve made with the man upstairs, we are all ageing! You control how you look while you age. You can either delay the signs by looking after your skin in the right way, or you can treat the deep wrinkles and sagging skin when they arise. Which one do you think works out cheaper in the long run? Which one will get you compliments as you age beautifully? 🤭 I’ll leave that with you!

I will always advise you to please seek advice from a medical professional to create the most practical, bespoke skincare regime for you and your skin. Invest in yourself! You are truly worth it!

So that’s all from me folks!
