Hi All!
I hope you are all well and safe.
So…..bread! I am known to thoroughly enjoy white bread and I had to make that move to wholemeal for my health’s sake. In fact, to ensure that my 8-month old son doesn’t have to face that challenge, I’ve never offered him white bread and we seem to be doing quite well
White bread is high in sugars and when we consume these sugars it encourages the random linkage of skin fibres (collagen and elastin) producing end-products that cause loss of elasticity, sagging, fine lines and wrinkles. This process is called glycation. The scary part? It cannot be reversed!
What can you do about this?
1. Be conscious about your diet!
Cut out the white bread and white rice and consider the browns! Eat foods that encourage the formation of healthy skin fibres. The food you need to be aware of are Vitamin A-rich foods and Vitamin C-rich foods so raw carrots and oranges are the way forward!!
2. Protect your skin from further damage such as sunlight (see Suncreen blog). Research shows that sun-protected skin does not harbour the affected skin fibres as sunscreen shields your skin from those harmful UVA & UVB rays! So put that sunscreen on! Please make sure you are using a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher. Prevention is better and is cheaper than cure!
3. Use products that contain active ingredients that will help produce healthy skin components.
The skincare you need depends on what your skin needs and that is bespoke to each individual. So I always advise you to take care of your skin and seek advice from the right person. You have one face…don’t take any risks!
That’s all there is to it!
A 3-step plan to feel great!!!
